Where We've Been.
In 1965,
a man by the name Alvin Huff established Nylon Belt Company to service the granite industry in Elberton, Georgia. Twenty years later in 1985, what would one day be a three-generation owned business began when Hugh E. Floyd purchased the company from Huff.
In 1986, Hugh hired his son Dennis H. Floyd to do maintenance, repair and sewing of the synthetic slings. Shortly after, another division of the company was added which was named Straps & Supplies. This was done for needs other than the granite industry which included towing/recovery, marine operations, crane lifting projects, and manufacturing plants that required slings for lifting.
When Hugh retired from the company in 1996 the company was solely changed to Straps & Supplies. His son, Dennis retired in 2025 and the company was sold to his Step-Son Grayson R. Higginbotham and lifelong family friend James L. Adams.
Did you know...
In 1991, at the end of the Desert Storm Military Campaign, Straps & Supplies was contacted by the United States Air Force to make lifting slings for 48 F-16 Fighter Jets to be lifted for transport and breakdown for complete rebuilds. The United States Air Force commended Straps & Supplies for our unmatched quality and workmanship. The flawless performance of the slings made for a complete success of the operation.
